On Saturday October 28 2006, our Shoregals soccer team was scheduled to host the district tournament finals at Memorial Stadium. The girls had earned the right to be the home team through a year of hard work and excellent team play. But the wear & tear of the long fall sports season, culminating in the “Mud Bowl” football game between the Shoremen and Amherst on Friday night, had rendered the field unusable. The game had to be moved to Rocky River High School, where new artificial Field Turf was installed two years ago. The Marching Shoremen fared no better, as they were unable to perfom their show on Senior Night and were limited to standing tightly crowded on the track to play their music.
